Terms of Use

1. Introduction
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Install It Right mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Install It Right ("we", "us", "our").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
2. The Service
Install It Right is a marketplace platform that connects homeowners ("Customers") with local tradespeople ("Engineers") across the United Kingdom. We provide the technology platform that enables:
- Customers to post jobs and receive proposals from tradespeople
- Engineers to browse jobs, submit proposals, and receive payments
- In-app messaging between Customers and Engineers
- Secure payment processing for completed jobs
Important: Install It Right is a marketplace platform only. We do not employ, endorse, or guarantee the work of any tradesperson. We are not a party to any agreement between a Customer and an Engineer.
3. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service
- You must be a resident of the United Kingdom
- You must provide accurate and complete registration information
- Engineers must hold appropriate qualifications, certifications, and insurance for their trade
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
4. Customer Terms
Posting Jobs
- Job postings must be accurate, complete, and describe genuine work required
- You must provide a valid UK postcode for job location
- Posting jobs is free of charge
- We reserve the right to remove jobs that violate these Terms
Accepting Proposals
- You are free to accept, decline, or ignore any proposal
- Accepting a proposal creates a direct agreement between you and the Engineer
- We are not a party to this agreement and do not guarantee the Engineer's work
Payments
- All prices displayed in the app are exclusive of VAT (20% UK standard rate)
- VAT is calculated and displayed at the payment stage
- When an Engineer submits a completion report, you will be charged the full job amount including VAT
- Payment is held until you approve the completion report
- Upon approval, the full payment is released to the Engineer via Stripe Connect
- Stripe's processing fee (approximately 1.4% + 20p) is applied to the transaction
5. Engineer Terms
Qualifications and Insurance
- You must hold appropriate qualifications and certifications for your listed trades
- You must maintain adequate professional liability and public liability insurance
- You are solely responsible for the quality and safety of your work
- You must comply with all applicable UK laws, regulations, and industry standards
Credit System
- Submitting a proposal requires 1 credit
- Credits are held when you submit a proposal
- If the Customer accepts your proposal, the held credit is consumed (unlocking direct contact and chat)
- If the Customer declines your proposal, the held credit is refunded to your balance
- Credits are purchased via in-app purchases and are non-refundable once consumed
Proposals
- Proposals must be genuine, competitive, and accurately reflect the work you intend to perform
- You must honour the price quoted in an accepted proposal unless both parties agree to changes
- Submitting misleading or spam proposals may result in account suspension
Payments
- You will receive 100% of the job cost (minus Stripe's processing fee) via Stripe Connect
- Install It Right does not charge any platform commission on job payments
- You must set up a Stripe Connect account to receive payments
- You are responsible for reporting income and paying any applicable taxes including VAT
6. Job Completion and Reports
- Engineers must submit a completion report upon finishing a job, including photos and details of work carried out
- Customers review the report and either approve or request amendments
- Payment is released to the Engineer when the Customer approves the report
- Disputes between Customers and Engineers should be resolved directly between the parties
7. Prohibited Conduct
You must not:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Provide false, misleading, or inaccurate information
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your qualifications
- Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
- Circumvent the credit system or payment processing
- Attempt to contact Engineers or Customers outside the platform to avoid fees
- Upload inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
- Create multiple accounts to abuse the platform
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, logos, bee mascot branding, text, graphics, and software, is owned by Install It Right and protected by UK and international intellectual property laws.
Content you upload (photos, descriptions, reports) remains your property, but you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use, display, and store this content as necessary to operate the Service.
9. Limitation of Liability
- Install It Right provides the platform "as is" and does not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of work performed by Engineers
- We are not liable for any disputes, damages, injuries, or losses arising from agreements between Customers and Engineers
- Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid to Install It Right in the 12 months preceding the claim
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law
10. Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You breach these Terms
- We receive complaints about your conduct
- We reasonably believe your account poses a risk to other users or the Service
- You have not used the Service for an extended period
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. Upon deletion, we will handle your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
11. Dispute Resolution
If you have a dispute with another user, we encourage you to resolve it directly. Install It Right may, but is not obligated to, assist in resolving disputes.
If you have a complaint about the Service, contact us at support@installitright.co.uk. We aim to resolve complaints within 14 days.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
